Job description

As a Need Planner you will be globally responsible for balancing the customer need against supplier capacities. You plan the goods flow in the product change process (both phasing in and out of products), communicate and handover this plan to Purchasing for execution. The Need planner leads initiatives in order to identify potential overstock and out of stock situations and to act on deviations outside the lead time. Your role is essential for IKEA to secure our customer success.

About the assignment

In your assignment as need planner you are responsible for balancing the total supply chain to lowest cost, capturing opportunities and mitigating risks. This requires that you are comfortable with taking the lead and that you are able to operate efficiently in a high-energy dynamic environment. In your new assignment you steer the product change process and communicate the plan to our purchasing areas and supply chain.

To be successful in this role we believe that you;

  • Have 3-5 years of experience within supplying or have a degree within logistics or similar
  • A background in supply chain/production planning is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem solving approach
  • Are enjoying to work in a structured way towards fixed time frames and deadlines, driving assignments
  • Have the ability to see the holistic perspective, from supplier to customer, as well as the capability to be in the details
  • Are comfortable in taking the lead and in motivating and inspiring others
  • Are motivated by working towards fixed time frames and deadlines, driving assignments

As a person you have strong analytical skills and conceptual thinking. You enjoy working in a structured way according to fixed time frames and deadlines. You are detail oriented and accurate with a problem solving approach, basing it on a holistic view. You have strong communication skills and you are not afraid to take the lead. You recognize the importance of securing the operational task and you make the difference on a tactical level!
