Job summary

Alstra Energy is seeking a Lead Engineer in Stockholm or Gothenburg, responsible for coordinating Solar PV and BESS project engineering from development to execution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, preferably with 5–7 years of Solar PV engineering experience and familiarity with energy storage solutions.

About the role

The Lead Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating the engineering scope of Solar PV and BESS projects throughout development, tendering, execution, and commissioning. The role ensures technically optimized, compliant, and commercially competitive project solutions.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and be part of a team of approximately 15 people, including Lead Engineers, Engineers, and Electrical Power Engineers.

Areas of responsibility

• Lead the project’s Engineering team through tendering, execution, and commissioning of Solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project objectives.
• Develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including site layouts, drawings, PVsyst simulations, technical specifications, and tender documentation.
• Ensure that all engineering solutions are optimized, constructible, compliant with standards and regulations, and commercially competitive within the EPC framework.
• Coordinate cross‑functional engineering activities across internal disciplines, external consultants, and subcontractors, including RFQ preparation, technical evaluations, supplier assessments, and design optimization.
• Ensure Engineering delivers according to schedule to uphold all project payment milestones and maintain overall project progress.
• Develop, implement, and improve internal engineering processes to optimize work hours, strengthen quality, and enhance consistency across projects.

Who you are

You are a technically strong and experienced engineer with a background in solar energy and preferably also energy storage. You thrive in a leading role where you combine technical expertise with structure, coordination, and clear communication.

We also believe you have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in Solar PV engineering.
• Experience with BESS or hybrid solutions (strongly preferred).
• Experience leading technical activities during tendering and execution phases.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
• Strong skills in PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVCase, or similar tools.
• Understanding of LV/MV systems, grid connection requirements, SCADA/PPC, and relevant standards.
• Strong communication skills in English.
