Job summary
Hitachi Energy in Ludvika, Sweden, is seeking a proactive Test System Engineer to develop, maintain, and improve automation for HVDC testing facilities. You will program PLCs, develop HMIs, troubleshoot control systems, and contribute to preventive maintenance for critical test equipment at the Ludvika HVDC Test Center.
You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safety, reliability, and high availability of testing systems, applying CMMS and industry best practices in a dynamic
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Hands‑on PLC programming and troubleshooting in industrial automation.
- Experience developing and maintaining HMI/SCADA solutions in industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or OPC UA protocols.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, control system docs, and instrumentation drawings.
- Experience with root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; fluent in English.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PLC-based automation and control systems for HVDC test equipment, including MACH.
- Design and enhance HMI solutions to improve usability and safety.
- Diagnose and resolve automation and communication issues across complex test environments.
- Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Support commissioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management of test systems.
- Ensure high equipment availability through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust automation solutions.
- Utilize CMMS to track maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Maintain safety standards and integrity of control systems and documentation.
