Job summary

SMS group Nordic is seeking a Senior Supervisor for the Cold Roll shop to lead a team with a focus on preventive and corrective maintenance in the cold- and hot-rolling workshops. You will foster a safe, developmental work environment where everyone contributes ideas and takes ownership.

The ideal candidate has extensive steel industry experience, hands-on knowledge of rolling and roll grinding, and a proven ability to structure work and lead teams.

• Substantial steel industry experience or in a heavy industrial environment.

H2GS - Senior Supervisor, Cold Roll shop

YOU ACT

In the role of Senior Supervisor you lead your team with a focus on preventive and corrective maintenance in the cold-rolling and hot-rolling workshops. You create a safe and developmental work environment where every employee feels seen and is inspired to contribute their best ideas. To succeed in the position you have previous experience in the steel or metal industries, mechanical maintenance, machining, or an equivalent professional background.

Your primary responsibilities:

• Drive and initiate safety within the workplace where everyone takes responsibility
• Lead by example in repair and maintenance routines and support the team through coaching and feedback.
• Perform and optimize all administrative tasks associated with the role of Senior Supervisor.
• Work closely with workshop and planning managers to ensure all activities adhere to our exacting standards.
• Develop and maintain SOP and SWP documentation for rolling mill equipment.
• Produce and distribute accessible reports on workshop and personnel performance to jointly drive continuous improvements.

YOU KNOW

We are looking for someone with substantial and demonstrable experience from the steel industry or another heavy industrial environment — preferably with hands-on knowledge of rolling and roll grinding — who can take on a key role as Senior Foreman / Workshop Team Leader. You have documented experience of equivalent duties, work methodically and in a structured manner, and are a clear team player who promotes collaboration and high productivity. With strong verbal and written communication skills you can effectively convey priorities, technical decisions and results to both the team and management, and contribute to driving operational reliability and continuous improvements.

We also expect you to have:

• Solid experience with MS Office and familiarity with SAP and/or other ERP systems.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is an advantage.
• A curious, learning-oriented mindset — willing to adopt new technologies and develop new skills.
• Strong organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy in both technical and administrative tasks.
