Job summary

Volvo Buses is seeking a General Counsel with global responsibility to lead the legal function and partner with Volvo Group leadership on strategy and compliance. You will report to the President of Volvo Buses and be part of the leadership team shaping governance, risk management, and contract excellence across the business.

You will drive high standards in competition law, anti-corruption, export control and data privacy, while mentoring the legal team and collaborating with commercial units

Qualifications

• Master of Laws and a minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to apply relevant legal, commercial and financial aspects.
• Strong personal credibility and integrity.
• Extensive experience in business/transaction management and of providing advice to senior and top-level management or the board of directors.
• Strong business acumen. Extensive commercial contracting experience, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Experience of leading, mentoring and coaching colleagues as well as initiating and driving improvement including change activities.
• A can-do mindset with high drive and energy. Strong creative problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
• Proficiency in both written and oral English is required.
• Experience of tender business and project management is a merit.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Boards, Councils (LCC) and Committees as deemed appropriate.
• Represent the legal function with external stakeholders and provide reporting to Group Legal & Compliance.
• Lead, develop and mentor the Volvo Buses legal team and collaborate with international units.
• Implement Volvo Group policies, strategies and procedures within the legal area and promote compliance.
• Support the Volvo Group compliance program covering competition, anti-corruption, export control and data privacy.
