Job summary

Siemens Energy Finspång is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to drive safety across our gas and steam turbine modernization projects. You will lead functional safety analyses and ensure safety requirements are integrated into service project deliveries in a hybrid work setting.

You will collaborate with control, electrical and mechanical engineers to embed safety into design and implementation, apply IEC 61511 and exSILentia, and perform FMEA and risk assessments, while developing safety

Qualifications

  • Experience with functional safety standards, particularly IEC 61511, and tools used for safety analysis, such as exSILentia.
  • Experience with FMEA and risk assessments.
  • General knowledge of gas and steam turbine technologies and their operational principles.
  • Strong cooperation skills and willingness to assist colleagues.
  • Structured and driven in daily work.
  • Fluent in English; Swedish language knowledge is a merit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the functional safety aspects of assigned modernization projects, ensuring safety requirements are integrated into service deliveries.

Join us in shaping the future of energy! As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our existing gas and steam turbine fleet. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for conducting functional safety analyses and implementing safety measures in modernization and upgrade projects for our gas and steam turbine fleet. In this fast-evolving energy landscape, you will tackle challenges related to safety compliance and risk management, driving innovative solutions to enhance fleet safety. Collaborating closely with various departments, you will engage in delivery projects, develop safety documentation, and support existing products, all while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. How You’ll Make an Impact
  • You will lead the functional safety aspects of assigned modernization projects, ensuring that safety requirements and assessments are effectively integrated into our service project deliveries.
  • You will work closely with control, electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure that safety considerations are seamlessly integrated into the design and implementation of control systems solutions.
  • While your primary focus will be on project delivery, you will have opportunities for growth within our department, which is also responsible for R&D and standardization in the area, allowing you to expand your expertise and potentially transition into those roles in the future.
What You Bring
  • You have experience with functional safety standards, particularly IEC 61511, and tools used for safety analysis, such as exSILentia.
  • Experience with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and risk assessments are meriting.
  • You possess general knowledge of gas and steam turbine technologies and their operational principles.
  • Your strong cooperation skills and willingness to assist colleagues will be key to your success in this role.
  • You are structured and driven in your daily work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • You can express yourself fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Swedish is considered a merit.
About The Team

Our team is composed of eleven dedicated development and project engineers specializing in the instrumentation and control aspects of gas and steam turbine packages. We focus on creating standardized solutions for modernization and upgrade projects and are responsible for functional safety topics in delivery projects. With expertise in control systems, electrical engineering, instrumentation, cybersecurity, and functional safety, we support ongoing R&D projects and are responsible for sustaining all active products related to package instruments and controls.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
