Job summary

Quest Global in Sweden seeks an experienced FEA engineer to perform complex thermal and thermo-mechanical analyses for turbomachinery components such as combustors and transition pieces using Abaqus. You will contribute to reports and reviews with internal and external customers.

Required are 4–6 years of FEA experience in turbomachinery, strong fundamentals in finite element methods and solid mechanics, and familiarity with ASME BPV Sec VIII; rotor dynamics is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience performing static/dynamic, transient, linear and non-linear thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis using Abaqus.
  • Experience in PRE-POST in Abaqus for similar turbomachinery components.
  • Graduate or Post Graduate in mechanical engineering with 4–6 years in FEA, preferably in turbomachinery.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex FEA jobs with minimal supervision within a high-performing FEA team.
  • Develop hand calculations and leverage engineering fundamentals for analyses.
  • Perform steady state and transient thermal, structural and thermo-mechanical analyses.
  • Define contacts, nonlinear behavior, and vibration/buckling analyses; assess HCF/LCF, creep and fracture mechanics.
  • Produce analysis and certification reports and support technical reviews with customers.

Job description

  • Must be a Swedish National or European origin with valid work permit to work in Sweden and good grasp of Swedish Language
  • Execute complex FEA jobs with minimum supervision within a high performing FEA team.
  • Do hand calculations leveraging a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals.
  • Performing steady state and transient thermal, structural and thermo-mechanical analysis.
  • Understand and define contacts, conducting nonlinear analysis, vibration analysis, buckling analysis, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of high-cycle fatigue (HCF), low-cycle fatigue (LCF), creep, and fracture mechanics.
  • Drive technical solutions and engage in reviews with both internal and external customers.
  • Writing of analysis reports and certification reports.
  • Ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries for complex development projects.
  • Have a solutioning mindset and approach to work.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Hands on Experience in performing static/dynamic, transient, linear and non-linear thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis of gas turbine Combustor & Transition Pieces using commercial software Abaqus.
  • Hands on Experience in performing PRE-POST in Abaqus software for static/dynamic, transient, linear and non-linear thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis of gas turbine Combustor & Transition Pieces.
  • Graduate/Post Graduate in Mechanical engineering or equivalent with 4 to 6 years of experience in finite element analysis (FEA) especially in turbomachinery domain.
  • Strong fundamental in Finite element methods and solid mechanics.
  • Experience in product design of turbomachinery i.e., Gas turbine, steam turbine will be preferred.
  • Experience in performing strength assessment as per ASME BPV Sec VIII Code.
  • Experience in Rotor dynamics is an added advantage.
  • Performing low cycle fatigue, high cycle fatigue and detailed fracture mechanics assessments of Gas turbine static & rotating components.
