Job summary

Axis Communications in Lund is seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to build and maintain the imaging tools and automation that power our lab. You will develop frontend and backend interfaces and own server environments used by imaging engineers.

You will join a collaborative team, apply Python for integration, work across Linux and Windows, and contribute to imaging test automation and hardware integration. This is a hands-on, on-site role with strong opportunities to grow.

Experienced Software Engineer - Imaging Tools & Test Automation

Do you enjoy building the tools that other engineers depend on? Join our imaging laboratory team in Lund as an Experienced Software Engineer - Imaging Tools & Automation, and help shape the environment behind the best forensic image quality on the market.

Who is your future team?

You will join the imaging laboratory team in Lund, responsible for developing and maintaining the internal tools used by Axis imaging engineers. The team takes strong ownership of its service - a service that plays an essential role in delivering the best forensic image quality on the market. You will belong to the software part of the group, working alongside colleagues on the hardware side.

What you'll do here as Experienced Software Engineer - Imaging Tools & Test Automation

• Support our imaging engineers by maintaining and developing the frontend and backend of the imaging lab interface.
• The scope extends to any tooling or automation that improves the quality and efficiency of imaging development work.
• Own and improve the Linux and Windows server environments that power our imaging labs.
• Develop and enhance the web-based tools our engineers rely on every day, both frontend and backend.
• Maintain, improve and automate our imaging tests, and develop new ones.
• Bring new hardware devices into the lab environment.
• Explore new ways to push the development of Axis cameras forward.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a creative problem-solver who takes pride in their work and understands what it means to deliver excellent service to internal users. You take responsibility for your own work and are comfortable finding your own way forward once you know where we are heading. You bring natural curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn across a wide range of topics - from software to the physics of imaging and optics. You like getting hands-on and figuring out how things work. Building a working understanding of digital imaging will help you collaborate effectively with our imaging engineers, and it is an area where you can keep growing.

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, or equivalent experience
• Some years of relevant work experience
• A comparatively wide skillset, or the willingness and demonstrated ability to build one
• Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments
• Experience using Python for system integration
• Working knowledge of Git and Gerrit
• A service-oriented approach to supporting colleagues

Bonus points for:

• Hands-on experience connecting hardware and software - whether through work, studies, or projects of your own. Tell us what you've built and tinkered with
• Familiarity with computer networking principles
• An interest in optics, imaging or photography

This is an on-site role at our Lund campus, as the work is closely tied to our imaging laboratory. No travel is expected.
