Job description

The opportunity

Do you want to enable the green energy transition, and together with colleagues meet the world’s needs for sustainable, flexible and secure energy? In your work you will be part of the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) business unit that is a part of Hitachi Energy’s division and is located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. Hitachi Energy’s HVDC technology transmits electricity over long distances and via submarine cables, enabling stability, cooperation between grids, sea‑based wind power and more.

How you’ll make an impact
  • You use your practical EMC experience to ensure proper design and controlled performance during normal use, fast switching of a high voltage‑high current system as well as during catastrophic events such as short circuits and the like.

The role includes:

  • Continuous improvement of guidelines and processes related to your area
  • Documenting strategies and overall requirements from an EMC perspective in tenders, projects and R&D projects
  • Performing inspections to ensure proper installations at our sites internationally
  • Working together with experts in areas such as RF emission simulations and studies, grounding of very high currents and electromagnetic field simulations
  • Being part of R&D activities to stay competitive for the future
  • Exploring various technical fields in a department that is active in several multi‑physics areas in close cooperation with both electrical and mechanical functions
Your background
  • Master of Science degree in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems or similar
  • Experience from practical work with EMC is a big merit (e.g., standards, mitigations, design for EMC, shielding philosophies, cable design)
  • Keen interest in or understanding of mechanical aspects as well as electrical design
  • Experience in design of auxiliary power systems in HVDC or substation environment or other areas where high currents are involved (kA)
  • Prior experience in any of the other technical areas mentioned above is beneficial but not a demand; personality and interest are of high importance
  • Positive, problem‑solving individual with the attitude that everything is possible in a team; willingness to take responsibility and learn are key features
  • General interest in technology; goal is cost‑effective solutions while fulfilling all requirements, so common sense and understanding of practical aspects are beneficial
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to express yourself written and spoken in English
What we offer
  • Collective agreement
  • Flexible working hours
  • Health care and wellness allowance
  • Fantastic career possibilities within Hitachi Energy both within Sweden and globally
  • Mentor to support you throughout the onboard phase
  • Various training and education supporting employee development
  • Diversified company with over 70 nationalities working in Sweden
  • Supplementary compensation for parental leave
  • Employee Benefit Portal with thousands of discounts and perks
