The research and education within the Engineering Geology research area focus on groundwater flow, drinking water supply, remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater, underground infrastructure construction, and subsurface planning.
This project will enhance decision support for groundwater managers responsible for monitoring, developing, and protecting groundwater resources. You will study the information needs of these decision‑makers in contexts such as environmental impacts of transportation infrastructure projects and drinking water supply. By integrating multi‑fidelity geospatial and operational data with numerical modelling and data‑driven approaches—such as statistical learning, AI, and value‑of‑information analysis—you will design the next generation of decision‑support tools. The project aims to enable better‑informed decisions that maximise societal and environmental benefits in groundwater management.
For students with an education earned outside of Sweden, a 4‑year Bachelor’s degree is accepted.
