Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Datacenter Technician (Level III) to support data center operations in a fast-paced environment. You will handle hands-on troubleshooting, fiber installations, testing, and cross-connects, while leading escalations and coordinating with multiple teams to maintain service levels.

The role requires experience in data center operations, strong IT/hardware skills, and the ability to work a 24/7 shift with on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in data center operations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage escalations.
• Lead a team during critical incidents and coordination of resolutions.
• Hands-on experience with data center buildouts, equipment assembly and installation.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, structured cabling and cross-connects.
• Experience using fiber testing equipment.
• Strong IT/hardware troubleshooting and network fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on customer support for installations, troubleshooting, fiber cross-connects and testing.
• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on hardware and network equipment.
• Manage internal/external tickets and SLAs (Smart Hands requests).
• Lead escalations for incidents and coordinate resolution across teams.
• Deliver clear shift handovers and operational status reports.
• Drive continuous improvements and standardize best practices.

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a Datacenter Technician (Level III) with previous experience in data center operations. This is not an entry-level role;

Key Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in data center operations
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage escalations, and lead a team during critical situations
• Hands-on experience with data center buildouts, equipment assembly, and installation
• Knowledge of connectivity technologies, especially fiber optics, structured cabling, and cross-connects
• Experience using fiber testing equipment
• Solid understanding of IT systems, hardware troubleshooting, and network basics
• Familiarity with Change, Incident, and Escalation Management processes
• Ability to work in a shift-based environment, including on-call rotation and after-hours support
• Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure (power and cooling systems) is a plus, but not mandatory

Responsibilities

Hands-on Customer Support

• Handle customer installations and troubleshooting, including fiber cross-connects and testing
• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on hardware and network equipment
• Manage internal and external tickets (including Smart Hands requests) in line with SLAs

Leadership & Operational Excellence

• Lead escalations for incidents, coordinating resolution efforts across teams
• Deliver clear shift handovers and comprehensive operational status reports
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and operational excellenceDevelop documentation and operational processes to standardize best practices

Additional Responsibilities

• Monitor infrastructure alarms (power, cooling, temperature, humidity) to maintain stable operations
• Oversee contractors, ensuring compliance with safety, cleanliness, and operational standards
• Occasional travel to other data centers for project support or escalations

Qualifications

• Experience in data center operations
• Expertise in hardware troubleshooting and hands-on data center work
• Ability to work in 24/7 shift rotation
• Background in IT or Telecommunications
• Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills
• Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus)
