Job summary

Google Inc. in Horndal, Sweden seeks a Mechanical Technician to operate, monitor and repair data center mechanical systems including pumps, chillers, HVAC and control systems. You will inspect and maintain critical infrastructure 24/7 and work with contractors to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of Mechanical/HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs with PPE.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair data center systems such as piping, mechanical components and systems.
  • Read blueprints/schematics and assist technicians with system operations.
  • Manage uptime of water pumps, HVAC and control/monitoring systems.
  • Operate and respond to abnormal conditions in data center facilities.
  • Support startup, commissioning and integration of new mechanical equipment.

  • 5 years of Mechanical/HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) of equipment, the required use of safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses in accordance with safety and ergonomic guidelines and assessments.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in maintenance of mechanical/cooling distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
  • Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Chillers, Air handling units, pumps and CRAC/CRAH units).
  • Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
