We are currently seeking specialist surgical pathologists to join a modern and accredited department in central Sweden, located in a region known for its coastal setting, rich history, and strong connection to nature.

About the Department

The surgical pathology and cytology unit plays a central role in diagnostics by analyzing tissue and cell samples using both microscopy and advanced digital systems. The goal is to provide accurate and timely diagnostic support to clinicians, improving patient outcomes and safety. The department is part of a larger organization within laboratory medicine and is at the forefront of digital pathology, with ongoing development in automation, robotics, and AI-driven diagnostics.

Additional responsibilities

• Gynecological screening programs
• Autopsy services and morgue operations
• Multidisciplinary clinical conferences

Your role

• Diagnostic work in histopathology and cytology
• Gross examination and specimen handling
• Participation in clinical conferences and interdisciplinary discussions
• Autopsy
• Supervising and mentoring residents
• Daytime on-call service for urgent diagnostic cases is shared within the team

Qualifications

• EU‑recognized specialist certification in pathology
• Experience in surgical pathology
• Strong communication skills in English and a willingness to learn Swedish
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team‑based environment
