Job summary

Empiric is seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Developer for an international banking client. In this role you will work on IBM z/OS, focusing on AML and settlement processes, with 2-3 days on site in Stockholm.

The contract is 6 months rolling and starts urgently. You will contribute to COBOL programming, batch processing with JCL, DB2/SQL, and online application development, ensuring compliance and stability in a regulated banking environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of COBOL on IBM z/OS in banking/finance.
• -Knowledge of DB2, SQL, and batch processing with JCL.
• -Full professional fluency in Swedish (100% comprehension).

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance COBOL applications supporting AML-R.
• Write, test and optimise SQL queries and DB2 interactions.
• Develop, maintain and troubleshoot batch jobs using JCL.
• Support online application development, debugging and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Ensure stability, quality and compliance with project requirements.

COBOL Mainframe Developer - Long Term B2B / Freelance - International Banking client

An amazing opportunity working with one of our biggest banking clients as an experienced COBOL Mainframe developer on IBM z/OS. There are 2 positions allowing you to work across the anti-money laundering department as well as the clearing/settlement team.

Contract: 6 month rolling contract (program to last until the end of 2027)

Location: 2-3 days on site in Stockholm

Start Date: Urgent

To be successful in this role you must have proven expertise as a COBOL Mainframe working in Banking/Finance or other highly regulated environments:

Key Skills/Responsibilities:

• Have at least 5 years of experience in COBOL programming on the IBM z/OS mainframe platform
• Have knowledge of DB2 databases and SQL
• Experience with batch processing and JCL (Job Control Language).
• Knowledge of online programming and mainframe application development.
• Develop, maintain and enhance COBOL applications supporting the AML-R initiative.
• Write, test and optimise SQL queries and DB2 database interactions.
• Develop, maintain and troubleshoot batch jobs using JCL.
• Support online application development, debugging and issue resolution.
• Analyse existing code, identify defects and implement effective technical solutions.
• Ensure application stability, quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Full professional fluency in Swedish (100% Swedish comprehension required).
• Experience working on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Clearing or Settlement initiatives is advantageous
