Volvo Group in Sweden seeks a CO₂ Regulation Specialist to ensure ongoing compliance of powertrain systems with EU CO₂ and fuel-consumption regulations across BEV and ICE platforms.
You will interpret evolving rules, document requirements, and train colleagues while coordinating with type-approval authorities and internal teams to sustain compliant product performance.
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
The Certification & Compliance (C&C) Department at Powertrain Technology is a global team of approximately 40 professionals based in Sweden, France, the USA, Brazil, and India. Our mission is to manage powertrain certification and compliance activities, ensuring that our products meet applicable regulatory requirements for power, emissions, CO₂, energy efficiency, fuel consumption, OBD, EMC, and electrical safety. We make sure our products remain compliant throughout their lifecycle, helping Volvo sell its products, reduce the risk of non-compliance, and contribute to safer products and a better environment.
We work with components and systems across the driveline for both battery-electric vehicles and internal-combustion-engine vehicles, as well as future powertrain technologies.
Certification & Compliance Sweden is a team of 12 experienced engineers with backgrounds in areas such as engine development, verification, certification, and regulatory compliance. We are a friendly and supportive team, and an excellent sounding board for certification and regulatory questions.
As a CO₂ (vecto) Regulation Specialist, you will safeguard that Volvo’s products remain compliant with applicable regulations over time. You will support Volvo’s mission, “Driving prosperity through transport and infrastructure solutions,” by ensuring that the company honors the intention of the law while developing safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible products.
You will act as the certification and compliance expert in EU CO₂ emissions and fuel-consumption regulations and be an active member of the Powertrain Interpretation Forum. You will interpret regulations, define and document regulatory requirements for driveline components and systems, covering both battery‑electric and internal‑combustion‑engine vehicles, as well as future powertrain technologies.
An important part of the role will be communicating new and changing regulatory requirements across the Powertrain organization. You will maintain regulatory guidance documents, ensure that they remain accurate and up to date, and provide training to help colleagues understand and apply the requirements in their daily work.
You will work closely with colleagues across Powertrain and Volvo Group, including the Vehicle CO₂ Regulation Specialist and the Product Regulation Development Specialist, to ensure that CO₂ data and related processes are compliant. The role will also involve regular contact with type‑approval authorities and other external stakeholders to align on the interpretation and application of regulatory requirements.
You are a technical professional with a genuine interest in compliance, technology, and the automotive industry. You are motivated by combining curiosity, analytical thinking, and attention to detail to develop products and ways of working that meet both current and future regulatory requirements.
To succeed in this role, you are a collaborative team player with strong networking skills and excellent communication abilities, both verbally and in writing. You are comfortable explaining complex information clearly and are confident in negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders.
You are well organized and able to bring structure to complex tasks while delivering accurate and precise results. You demonstrate integrity, have the courage to raise important compliance topics and contribute to a positive, proactive culture focused on continuous improvement.
If you have any questions about the position, please contact Marie Ahlstrand, Director Certification & Compliance, marie.ahlstrand@volvo.com.
