Aecon is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to join our Civil East team for a work term of up to 12 months. You will collaborate with senior engineers to learn cost control, scheduling, and site coordination on large-scale infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree programme in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc.
• Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles is an asset.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
• Capability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

Responsabilités

• Receives on-the-job assignments and tasks: simple plans, designs, calculations, costs, and bills of material per specs.
• Monitors project costs, materials quantities, and scheduling.
• Interprets plans and specifications for contractors using standard methods.
• Assists with procurement of project materials and vendor management.
• Assists with bids and proposals for new work.
• Acts as a liaison between client, subcontractors and project team.
• Prepares RFIs and NCRs for design changes.
• Participates in setting up cost code structure and project information.
