Job summary

Evolution is building a new platform from first principles, focusing on backend services and distributed systems. You will design, implement, and operate APIs, data models and product-facing components, working with a stack that emphasizes Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL in a modern containerised environment.

Join a small team that tackles high-throughput, real-money transaction flows across regions, with strict latency, correctness and security constraints from day one.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals.
• Comfort with backend systems and databases.
• Ability to reason about correctness, concurrency, performance.
• Interested in distributed systems and production-grade engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and platform components using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement APIs, data models, internal tools, and product-facing systems.
• Work with Kafka-based event-driven architecture and high-throughput transaction flows.
• Build systems using PostgreSQL with focus on performance and observability.
• Develop services designed to run in a modern containerised environment.
• Contribute to decisions around consistency, latency, scalability, reliability and security.
• Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code with robustness in mind.
• Participate in code reviews, system design discussions and trade-off decisions.
