Spotify is seeking a backend engineer to help build and operate the lakehouse foundations, enabling Iceberg tables across data workflows from MVP to production. You will drive data-pipeline migration, own scaleable BigQuery integration, and maintain platform reliability through on-call rotations.

The role requires production-grade JVM skills and cloud/Kubernetes fluency. Based in London or Stockholm, with flexibility to work from home and select in-person meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating backend services in production.
• Proficient with Java or Scala in large-scale data environments.
• Knowledge of Iceberg, JVM-based processing, or cloud data warehouses.

Responsabilités

• Build and evolve the lakehouse to read/write Iceberg tables end-to-end.
• Drive adoption by migrating data pipelines to the new stack with tooling.
• Own BigQuery at Spotify scale: reservations, monitoring and tooling.
• Keep the platform healthy with on-call rotations and issue debugging.
