Job summary

Technicon Design Sweden is seeking an experienced Exterior Studio Engineer to bridge design and engineering for exterior and interior automotive lighting. You will translate design intent into feasible concepts and work on on-site Design Studio in Sweden, with occasional international travel.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop lighting concepts using Catia V5 and optical tools, and ensure compliance with automotive standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in automotive lamp concept engineering.
• Deep knowledge of lamp technology, engineering principles, and legal requirements.
• Strong understanding of vehicle development processes.
• Automotive lighting concept and component design experience (interior & exterior).
• Proficiency in Catia V5 (Solid & Surface modeling) and Teamcenter (Author level).
• Experience with optical software (SPEOS, Lucidshape, LightTools preferred).
• Familiarity with component manufacturing, tooling requirements, and lead times.
• Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced exterior studio engineer to act as the voice of design within engineering, ensuring that design intent is realized while meeting technical and legislative requirements. This role bridges design and engineering, translating requirements into innovative and feasible lighting solutions for both exterior and interior automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between design and engineering teams, communicating design intents and needs.

• Education: Technical university degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in the automotive industry with extensive lamp concept engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of lamp technology, engineering principles, and legal requirements.
• Strong understanding of vehicle development processes.
• Automotive lighting concept and component design experience (interior & exterior).
• Proficiency in Catia V5 (Solid & Surface modeling) and Teamcenter (Author level).
• Experience with optical software (SPEOS, Lucidshape, LightTools preferred).
• Familiarity with component manufacturing, tooling requirements, and lead times.
• Experience working in a design studio is highly merited.
• Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
