We look forward to receiving your application!

Work assignments

The Division of Logistics and Quality Management is one of the leading research groups in its field. We conduct research in close collaboration with industry and society and in cooperation with our international network of researchers. Both education and research are to a large extent interdisciplinary and conducted in close collaboration with other scientific institutions, industry and public organisations. Since teaching, supervision, research collaboration and collegial work are largely carried out on campus, the position requires a high degree of physical presence on campus in daily activities. At the division, we value high commitment to both teaching and research from all our employees.

We teach in several master of engineering programmes, such as Industrial Engineering and Management (I), Mechanical Engineering (M), and international master’s programmes such as Industrial Engineering and Management (IND), as well as offering standalone courses and commissioned education. As an associate professor in quality management, you will primarily teach and supervise students in various programmes at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Courses are taught in areas such as Lean production, Customer‑focused service and product development, Six Sigma, Leadership for quality improvement, and Statistical process control. The work includes course design and course coordination responsibility. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English.

The division conducts research in both logistics and quality management. Sustainable development is a guiding principle in the division’s research. Customers have traditionally been a focus within quality management, which in recent years has broadened to include a wider stakeholder perspective incorporating social value creation. The main research focus is on principles, methods and tools for improving existing products and services, developing new innovative products and services, and improving operational processes with the aim of satisfying the needs and expectations of customers, employees, owners and other stakeholders. The division also has a growing focus on the role of leadership in improvement work and innovation, with particular emphasis on how organisations develop the capacity to translate ideas into practical change and long‑term value creation. This includes studies of how leadership, governance and organisation can support continuous development in complex operations. Research is primarily communicated in writing in English, but also in Swedish.

You are active in the research community, participate in the division's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through academic publications and help attract external research funding.

You contribute actively to the university's development work. The collaboration assignment applies both in educational and in research contexts. In the context of education, the main objective is to ensure the relevance of the education to working life and to create the conditions for lifelong learning. In the context of research, the collaboration assignment applies mainly through disseminating, making available and utilising research.

The employment may also involve administrative duties, such as serving as coordinator in matters related to master theses or various departmental or faculty assignments. We also encourage you to participate in and show interest in management duties.

Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.

You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. The fact that you are present and active is something we see as self‑evident in order to ensure that you are able to perform your duties in an optimum way and enjoy your working community.
