Job description

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Swedish and English, design curricula, and supervise students in design-oriented programs. Conduct research in participatory design, service design, and interaction design, and lead quality scientific publications in Swedish and English.

Assume educational and research administration responsibilities, including coordination of courses, evaluation of teaching outcomes, and management of research projects. Participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences; contribute to the university’s development work and collaborative engagements with stakeholders from society.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national and international developments within design, service design, human‑computer interaction, and related fields. Promote active collaboration in education and research and ensure the group’s professional development and collegial working environment.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree or equivalent academic expertise in design, service design, or human‑computer interaction, with documented research experience in at least two of the following sub‑areas:
  • Design – participatory/cooperative design, code‑design, or designerly work
  • Service – service logics or service organization
  • Human‑computer interaction – interaction design or UX
• Pedagogical expertise demonstrated through teaching and supervision at bachelor’s and master’s level, particularly involving the intersection of design and service contexts.
• Proficiency in Swedish and English for research and teaching; ability to conduct research in English within two years and, when possible, to teach in Swedish.
• Experience in applying for and securing external research funding (e.g., project proposals, grant applications).
• Documented experience in collaboration in education and research, administrative leadership, and technical proficiency relevant to the role.
• Additional merit for expertise in all three sub‑areas, broad planning skills, and a research direction that complements the division’s focus in service design, HCI, and related technology.
