Are you ready to shape the future of research and education? At Uppsala University, your ideas matter. We welcome top talents in Science and Technology to a world-class environment driving innovation and collaboration. Advance the frontiers of science. It starts with you.

The technical section consists of three departments with a total of twelve research programs. We offer a unique interdisciplinary research environment, specialized and well-functioning infrastructures, competitive funding, and good conditions for establishing a new research group. The host institution also offers a start-up package that guarantees your own salary for a five-year period, the salary of a doctoral student or postdoctoral fellow, and resources to establish the research group.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering develops technical solutions in sustainability and energy and educates in our interdisciplinary subject. With the help of innovative researchers and state-of-the-art facilities, we meet today's and tomorrow's challenges in materials science. AI for materials science is an emerging research field that uses machine learning, data analysis and computational modelling to guide the discovery, characterization and optimization of new materials. By accelerating innovation cycles, AI in materials science plays a central role in the development of new sustainable technologies for the society of the future.

You can find more information about us here.

The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering conducts interdisciplinary engineering research on infrastructural and industrial socio-technical systems and processes. Our research is strongly linked to sustainable development and is based on extensive interaction with society and industry. The department’s research is conducted within two research programs: Industrial Engineering and Management and Civil Engineering and Built Environment.

You can find more information about us here.

The Department of Electrical Engineering conducts leading research and education in electrification, digitalization, and health technology, with applications ranging from renewable energy, electrified transportation systems, robotics, AI, and 5G/6G communication to smart sensors and medical technology. In collaboration with stakeholders, we develop medical and electrical systems spanning from materials and manufacturing understanding to the software required.

The department is organized into four divisions: Electricity, Integrated Smart Systems Technology, Solid-State Electronics, and Signals and Systems. Together, we create a dynamic and international environment where research and education meet, and where we contribute to technological solutions that shape the future of society—both locally and globally.
