Job summary

n8n GmbH is seeking a Head of Design to lead a growing team and elevate the user experience of our AI-driven workflow platform. You will drive design strategy, mentor managers, and partner with Product and Engineering to shape the product roadmap.

This remote-first role spans Europe, emphasizing expansion to broader audiences while maintaining high standards and fostering a culture of curiosity and rigor. You will guide research-informed decisions in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Product design leadership: managed managers, coached senior designers, built design teams that improve craft and business outcomes.
• Complex product systems experience: led design across complex or developer-facing products with deep product understanding.
• Craft authority: set and defend a high quality bar, explaining why work is great and upholding standards.
• Strategic influence: made design a co-equal partner in product conversations, not a downstream function.
• Structured problem-solving under ambiguity: navigate unclear problems and create clear plans.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality bar and evolve review processes and QA practices to raise the bar as the team grows.
• Shape product strategy by bringing design thinking into roadmap conversations and surfacing user problems early.
• Lead a team of around 14 designers, defining structure, career paths, and a culture of high standards.
• Build research into decisions by connecting insights to activation, adoption and retention.
