Job Description : The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Transformer Application Engineer to join our team. In this role you will bring the knowledge of a senior specialist in our Transformers portfolio to customers, ensuring mutual trust while communicating with customers on technical preferences, imparting training and presenting Hitachi Energy transformer solutions. You will lead regional business development and sales of Transformer solutions including digitalization across the full digital portfolio, tracking market trends and securing anticipated growth impact. You will develop and implement a regional sales strategy aligned with global strategy to increase customer penetration through engagement with Front End teams, distribution channel and through promotion of Digital and Sustainable Transformer solutions.
How you'll make an impact
- Adopt and support global transformer strategy and portfolio deployments in the HUB to customers and Hitachi Energy with focus on
- Contribute to short, medium & long-term results via support to the sales and execution teams in a cradle-to-grave approach, including activity at Customer pre-tender / conceptual stage, Customer tender strategy development, technical tender clarification, order execution, technical support, problem resolution and clarification, FAT support and post-delivery technical issue resolution.
- Establish and demonstrate industry leading business and technical knowledge by organizing and conducting technical trainings / webinars / presentations via Hitachi Energy and industry platforms.
- Translate knowledge from previous transformer design experience into customer-relevant knowledge.
- Lead regional Application Engineering & Business Development activities related to the transformer portfolio by understanding market trends and securing growth with positive ROMI impact.
- Fulfill customer-facing activities including organizing and conducting Customer Technical Trainings (CTTs), attending industry conferences, customer visits, specification influencing, tender negotiation and clarification, off-cycle technical support and knowledge sharing with customer contacts.
- Fulfill internal Hitachi Energy-facing activities including internal technical training (HIITs) and customer relationship presentations, tender strategy & negotiation recommendations; engage factory and tender engineering teams to develop and deploy trust, acceptance and team integration; provide customer support during FAT and post-order problem solving.
- Develop and implement KPIs and targets for the Transformer portfolio to provide visibility of activity and outcomes, with metrics such as CTTs and HIITs specifications influenced.
- Contribute to and follow a structured market plan combining technical information gathered with customers, while deploying a strategic overview mindset.
- Ensure all customer interactions are reported in SFDC and support by the M&S team of the HUB.
- Ability to develop own technical presentations and support from colleagues and BLs with deep understanding of the topics.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the transformer portfolio for different segments and applications, supporting the WCFE Team for Marketing and Sales activities of the HUB and representing the interests of the GPG / BL in the given country / region.
- Provide customer feedback as well as strategic marketing inputs to GPG / GPMM and support market analysis validation and competitive landscape and heat maps.
- Support and collaborate closely with Application Engineering teams.
- Be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Your background
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. A master's degree is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical department (R&D Engineering or Design) and Project Management or Product Marketing
- Sales and business development in the assigned sector associated with transformer businesses.
- Strong technical skills in addition to marketing experience to bridge the gap between technical and marketing teams in the industry; technical bodies (CIGRE IEC, etc.) are a plus.
- Excellent networking skills matured in a highly international organization, leading by influence.
- Change management experience is a strong plus.
- Intercultural sensitivity with excellent communication skills in oral and written English; willingness to work with colleagues from multiple countries for the assigned region; strong grasp of the local language.
- Be willing to travel 50%.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English is required.
