Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a Traffic Engineer to join our consultant team on a remote work contract basis to support the successful delivery of a major traffic engineering project.

This is a unique opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented professional to contribute remotely from anywhere in the world, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and project managers.

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Driving the preparation of comprehensive traffic engineering reports, including Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Parking Assessments, and Feasibility Studies, meticulously adhering to RTA and other relevant local authority guidelines.
  • Leveraging advanced proficiency in PTV VISSIM to develop, calibrate, and validate detailed micro-simulation models, optimizing complex intersection designs and road network performance.
  • Utilising expertise in PTV VISUM and EMME software to create and analyze strategic transport models, informing long-term urban planning and policy development.
  • Conducting in-depth road network analysis and capacity assessments for proposed designs using industry-standard tools like SIDRA, Synchro, and HCS.
  • Developing comprehensive and compliant Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TTMPs) and Traffic Diversion Plans (TDPs), focusing on safety and efficiency for the implementation phase of major infrastructure projects.
  • Preparing precise technical drawings, geometric layouts, and swept path analysis using AutoCAD and Civil 3D to support detailed road and intersection designs.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with multidisciplinary internal design teams (e.g., civil, urban planning) to integrate traffic engineering insights into holistic project solutions.
  • Presenting design concepts and technical findings directly to management that will be shown to regulatory bodies (including the RTA), and effectively communicating complex information and securing necessary approvals.
  • Ensuring the technical quality and compliance of all transport models, designs, and reports, conducting thorough reviews and providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Managing project components efficiently, adhering to design phase timelines, budgets, and deliverable schedules to meet client expectations.
  • Staying at the forefront of traffic engineering advancements, continuously learning new modeling techniques, design standards, and regional transport planning best practices.
  • Applying sophisticated analytical and problem-solving skills to complex traffic and transport challenges, formulating innovative and practical design solutions.
Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a traffic-related field and 5+ years experience.

You will be confident in using tools such as VISSIM, VISUM, and EMME as well as having good experience with tools such as SIDRA, Synchro, and HCS.

Candidates that have remotely worked in a design centre on projects for GCC traffic agencies will be at an advantage.

This opportunity is open - remote (outside of the GCC or nations that KEO does not have office locations in).
