The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, extensive experience in mold design, and expert knowledge of CNC equipment. Responsibilities include managing tooling PM programs, optimizing production processes, and ensuring high-quality component manufacturing. Knowledge of CAD/CAM is essential for this role.

Job description
Direct Role Purpose

Responsible for leadership and management oversight of CNC Workshop, Tool & Die and Mold Sections at the HDPE and Injection molding plant. Designing, developing, rectifying and optimizing tooling and molds used in the plastic injection and extrusion manufacturing processes across the operation.

Designing and machining new tooling and undertaking repairs or modifications as per approved concept or design (Molds, Inserts, other Inner & Outer cones, Mandrels, Calibrators, Orifices, die flanges, separators, socketing clamps, vacuum and spray tank flanges, etc.) collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including design engineers, production personnel, and quality assurance, to ensure the efficient and effective production of high‑quality components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain tooling PM programs to ensure optimum condition and standard of tooling.
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshooting of molds to identify and address defects or wear.
  • Support tool commissioning, trials and testing to validate design functionality.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed tooling and fixture designs.
  • Develop CNC programs using CAM software for accurate and efficient production.
  • Optimize CNC programs to minimize cycle time and reduce material waste.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish inspection protocols.
  • Analyze machining data, inspection results, and feedback to identify opportunities for process improvement, defect reduction, and cost optimization.
  • Perform mold flow analysis and simulations for design optimization.
  • Monitor and analyze production data for process improvement.
  • Suggest corrective actions and engineering changes to molds to enhance part quality, production efficiency, and mold longevity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide technical guidance to production teams regarding mold set up, operation and troubleshooting.
Role Qualifications
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or certificates are an added advantage.
Required Experience
  • Proven experience in mold and die design, manufacturing and process optimization.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding and extrusion tooling, its design, manufacture & operation.
  • Expert knowledge of CNC equipment and machining processes.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs (TPM).
  • Project and trial coordination skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze complex mold‑related issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Ability to deliver Health and Safety improvement within a structured system like ISO45001.
  • Proven background of driving continuous improvement within an ISO 9001 production environment.
  • High degree of ERP and computer literacy, with proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate good time management.
  • Ability to make quick, clear decisions.
