Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing petroleum engineering activities, reservoir simulation engineering, and reservoir engineering, maximizing hydrocarbon production, reservoir development, and field management.
Job Dimensions and Business Metrics
- Leadership responsibilities include the overall direction, planning and evaluation of Petroleum Engineering & Development unit.
- Makes budgetary recommendations.
- Responsible for direct and indirect headcount management of 2+ full‑time equivalent (FTE) employees.
- Highest level of confidentiality and access to information which unauthorized disclosure could be expected to have a severe or catastrophic adverse effect on organizational operations, organizational assets, or individuals.
- Decisions are made within policy parameters.
- Partially accountable for long‑range operational planning in assigned areas.
Key Accountabilities

- Oversees reservoir development initiatives to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
- Oversees collaboration with reservoir engineers to optimize field development plans.
- Oversees participation in reservoir simulations and analysis to guide development strategies.
- Oversees reservoir simulation activities to model reservoir behavior and performance.
- Oversees utilization of simulation software to assess reservoir dynamics, fluid flow, and pressure behavior.
- Oversees interpretation of simulation results and apply findings to optimize reservoir strategies.
- Provides reservoir engineering expertise to evaluate reservoir characteristics and performance.
- Oversees conduction of reservoir studies, including material balance, pressure transient analysis, and decline curve analysis.
- Oversees collaboration with geologists and petrophysicists to understand reservoir behavior.
- Oversees analyses of reservoir and production data to make data‑driven decisions.
- Oversees preparation of comprehensive reports on reservoir and well performance.
- Communicates findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Acquires funds for the end‑to‑end unit's activities and manages assigned budget.
- Accountable for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the managed unit.
- Strictly follows established environmental, health, safety and quality policies and procedures to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high‑quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Advocates safety culture across the organization.
- Provides environmental, health, and safety leadership in maintaining a goal of zero incidents, process safety and environmental events within area of responsibility.
- Develops and implements operational excellence (OE) requirements within the assigned area, coaching staff in expectations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Undertakes accountabilities in the operational excellence process as set out in the schedule of responsibilities.
- Contributes to the processes of continuous improvement for the area managed and the organization more widely.
- Performs any other relevant task as directed by Petroleum Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in upstream operations with 3+ years in leadership roles.
- Academic: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or related discipline.
Skills
Language Skills (English and Arabic)
Fluent in English; Arabic is an asset.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Required proficiency level B2.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge in simulation software (ECLIPSE, Petrel, CMG)
- Strong understanding of reservoir management, modeling, and recovery optimization
- Ability to lead integrated teams and complex projects
- Proficiency in data analysis, surveillance planning, and economic evaluation
- Effective communicator with technical report writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in reservoir engineering
