Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and repair of safety products and systems, including gas detection devices, breathing apparatus, and related respiratory protection equipment. The role ensures reliable operation and compliance with safety standards at customer sites while delivering high-quality service and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and maintain portable and fixed gas detection systems.
- Perform inspection, testing, and servicing of air breathing apparatus, SCBAs, airline systems, and escape devices.
- Conduct commissioning of new safety systems, including integration and function testing.
- Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective service activities on-site and in the workshop.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty devices or systems in accordance with service manuals and procedures.
- Ensure all equipment and services comply with applicable safety standards.
- Provide technical support and product guidance to customers and end-users.
- Maintain accurate service reports, calibration certificates, and customer documentation.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory, tools, and calibration equipment.
- Promote safe working practices and adhere to HSE standards.
- Support warehouse preparation and logistics for service activities.
- Participate in training programs to upgrade technical skills and certifications.
- Assist in on-site customer training or product handover sessions.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and process improvements.
- Occasionally support emergency service calls or weekend assignments as needed.
- Participate in internal audits, safety drills, and compliance initiatives.
- Represent the company professionally at customer sites and maintain strong client relationships.
Reporting To: Service & RSS Manager
Qualifications
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in safety systems servicing or technical support, ideally with multibrand equipment.
- Experience in safety systems, industrial equipment, or gas detection is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on experience with calibration tools, gas detection instruments, and respiratory protection equipment.
- Good understanding of industrial HSE regulations and practices.
- Familiarity with international H2S safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH, API RP 55).
- Certification in H2S safety and Breathing Apparatus use (preferred).
- Ability to follow technical manuals and diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and customer interaction skills.
- Familiarity with service tools, multimeters, and calibration devices.
- High level of safety awareness.
- English language proficiency; Arabic is a plus.
- Valid driving license and readiness to travel frequently.
