Job description

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensures all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
• SQL server installation, upgradation and migration of SQL servers.
• Troubleshoots SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after‑hours and weekends and on‑call troubleshooting experience.
• Configuring SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
• Troubleshoot issues like blocks, waits, query plans, fragmentation.
• Decide using fitting clustering, log shipping, mirroring, Windows Azure, or other technologies to solve a business problem.
• Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, access management, coding utilities, data back‑up, and recovery specification.
• Install and configure all versions of MS‑SQL Server, deploy database change scripts provided by third‑party vendors, and design indexes based on integrated applications.
• Documents the company’s database environment.
• Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, etc) and communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff.
• Monitors DB performance and manages parameters to provide fast responses to front‑end users.
• Ensures that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
• Tuning T‑SQL queries to improve performance.
• Database mail, configure alerts, jobs.
• Writing and improving SQL Server T‑SQL queries, and finding DMV queries to answer questions about server‑level performance.
• Using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries.

Requirements

• Graduation: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Certificates: At least one Certificate – Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent is preferable.
• 7 years of MS SQL Server Database Administrator experience.
• Deep Excellent Knowledge on SQL Server 2019, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2012, SQL Server 2008 R2.
• Expert in DB Design and DWH systems.
• Expert in SQL Report and Services (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS).
• Experience in High Availability (WSFC, FCI, AOAG, Mirroring).
• Experience with database performance tuning.
• Database health check.
• Experience with 3rd party backup tools.
• Good Communication.
