Job description

Job ID: 3137229 | Amazon Australia Company Pty Ltd

At Amazon, we’re working to be the most customer‑centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. Our businesses continue to grow and expand because of our customer focus, innovative technologies, and world‑class operations. Driving all of our businesses are talented employees who are strong owners, insist on the highest standards, and obsess over our customers. When employees are raising concerns, we owe them a fair, effective, and timely management of their case.

We are looking for a Senior HR Investigator to lead complex ER and HR workplace investigations and address escalations concerning processes and policies across Amazon’s Australia Operations network. In this newly created role, you will be the primary investigator for Australian operations, focusing on solving highly sensitive and ambiguous employee relations issues that might have significant business, legal, and reputational implications.

With Australia’s growing operations footprint—including fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, and corporate offices—this role will be crucial in supporting our Australian workforce.

The Senior HR Investigator will own cases independently and will work extensively with global peers, field PXT partners, and other relevant support teams to ensure the execution of intentional and thorough investigations primarily in Australia, with occasional support to other countries.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead complex workplace investigations, including conducting thorough interviews, analyzing evidence, preparing comprehensive reports, and recommending appropriate actions while managing cases independently from intake to closure.
  • Analyse case data to identify trends, develop strategic solutions to prevent future incidents, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
  • Partner effectively with HR, Legal, and Leadership teams at all levels, building trust and managing sensitive conversations while delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate exceptional project‑management skills by balancing multiple investigations and strategic initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
  • Handle time‑sensitive employee relations matters requiring immediate attention, while navigating complex stakeholder relationships and organisational dynamics.
  • Drive proactive solutions by analysing patterns in casework, implementing preventive measures, and contributing to policy improvements.
  • Lead best‑practice investigation processes, ensuring compliance with company policies while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Program Management, Human Resources, Employment Law, Computer Science, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • 5+ years human resource generalist experience or HR investigations specialist experience.
  • Experience in conducting investigative fieldwork, including complainant, witness, and subject employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation.
  • Experience supporting hourly employee client groups.
  • Experience in call centre, distribution centre, or manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of Australian employment law framework.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, JD, or other specialised training in labour/employee relations.
  • Evidence of career development and/or evidence of superior performance in previous roles.
  • Ability to provide leadership, work collaboratively on teams, and consult effectively and independently with all levels and functional areas of an organisation.
  • Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organisation to achieve results.
  • Ability to apply high judgement and consider the context and totality of the employee experience.
  • Ability to identify root cause and pursue resolution of both acute and systemic defects.
