Position: Senior Fire Safety Engineer & Code Specialist

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Department: Technical Compliance & Advisory

Reports to: Principal Consultant / Technical Director

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Fire Safety Engineer with deep expertise in the Saudi Fire Code (SBC 801) and international fire safety standards. This role combines technical code interpretation, compliance verification, training delivery, and client advisory services. The ideal candidate will be registered (or immediately eligible for registration) with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) at the Professional Grade and will serve as a subject matter authority within TCHECO’s expert team.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Code Interpretation & Compliance
  • Provide expert interpretation of SBC 801 (Saudi Fire Code) and related international codes (IFC, NFPA, etc.)
  • Conduct detailed fire safety plan reviews and compliance assessments for giga-projects, commercial, and high-rise developments
  • Issue formal SBC Expert Verification Reports for fire safety systems and designs
  • Support clients in resolving disputes with municipal and Civil Defense authorities
Training & Development
  • Develop and deliver high-impact training programs on SBC 801 and fire safety compliance
  • Lead SBC 2024 Certified Masterclass sessions focused on fire safety chapters
  • Conduct in-house corporate training for engineering firms, contractors, and developers
  • Prepare educational materials, checklists, and technical guides
Client Advisory & Project Support
  • Serve as the primary fire safety expert for TCHECO’s key clients and projects
  • Advise on performance-based design approaches and alternative solutions
  • Support material and system standardization projects involving fire-rated products
  • Participate in client workshops, design charrettes, and authority coordination meetings
Technical Contribution
  • Contribute to the development and updating of fire codes and standards
  • Stay current with local and international fire safety regulations and technologies
  • Support business development with technical proposals and client presentations
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience in fire safety engineering, with at least 3 years in Saudi Arabia or the GCC
  • In-depth knowledge of SBC 801 (Saudi Fire Code) and/or International Fire Code (IFC)
  • Eligible for SCE Professional Grade registration (or already registered)
  • Proven experience in fire safety design review, risk assessment, and compliance verification
  • Strong presentation and training delivery skills
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is a significant advantage
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional certifications (CFPS, PE, IFE, etc.)
  • Experience working with Saudi Civil Defense, municipalities, or regulatory bodies
  • Background in consulting or advisory roles for large‑scale projects
  • Publication or speaking experience in fire safety forums
