Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience in construction supervision of large-scale transportation/infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with electrical systems for transport projects (street lighting, ITS, traffic signals, substations, power distribution, communications).
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, utility authorities, and government stakeholders.
  • Experience with factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor all electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
  • Inspect and oversee installation works related to highway electrical systems including street lighting, ITS, traffic signals, power distribution, substations and telecoms.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and work procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality audits to ensure delivery to project requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to site teams, clients and contractors on electrical engineering matters.
  • Coordinate with design teams to address construction challenges and implement approved solutions.
  • Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, Saudi standards and international best practices.
  • Verify testing and commissioning activities and witness FATs and SATs.

Job description

WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Construction Supervision team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of electrical systems associated with a major roads and highways infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.

This role requires a highly capable professional with extensive site supervision experience on large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects, working closely with contractors, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the construction phase.

Construction Supervision & Site Monitoring
  • Supervise and monitor all electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.

  • Inspect and oversee installation works related to highway electrical systems including:

  • Street lighting systems

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

  • Traffic signal infrastructure

  • Power distribution systems

  • Electrical substations

  • Communication networks

  • Tunnel and roadway electrical systems (where applicable)

  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and work procedures.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements.

  • Monitor contractor performance and progress against approved construction schedules. Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and support to site teams, clients, and contractors on electrical engineering matters.

  • Review and resolve technical queries, RFIs, non-conformance reports, and design-related issues.

  • Coordinate with design teams to address construction challenges and ensure effective implementation of approved solutions.

  • Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews where required. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all electrical works comply with project specifications, local regulations, Saudi standards, and international engineering best practices.

  • Verify testing and commissioning activities and witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs) as required.

  • Prepare and review inspection reports, test reports, snagging lists, and commissioning documentation.

  • Support project closeout activities and final handover documentation. Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, utility authorities, and relevant government agencies.

  • Attend progress meetings, technical workshops, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.

  • Support interface management for utility diversions and integration with other infrastructure systems. Health, Safety & Environment

  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on site.

  • Ensure all electrical installations are executed in accordance with approved HSE procedures and project safety requirements.

  • Participate in safety inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments as required.

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.

  • Proven experience working with leading international engineering consultancy firms.

  • Significant experience in construction supervision and site-based roles.

  • Demonstrated experience on major roads, highways, transportation, or infrastructure projects.

  • Previous experience working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is essential.

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems associated with transport and infrastructure projects.

  • Experience coordinating with contractors, utility authorities, and government stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of delivering projects within quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
