Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Disputes Lawyer to lead and manage high-stakes litigation matters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in court proceedings, including the preparation of legal submissions in Arabic and strong advocacy skills for court hearings. This role requires excellent command of Arabic legal drafting, strong analytical ability, and familiarity with litigation practice before the Saudi courts.

The successful candidate will also contribute to client relationship management and business development in both the English and Arabic languages and mentoring junior lawyers. Applicants from both private practice and in-house legal teams are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation & Legal Drafting

  • Lead litigation cases, including drafting legal pleadings, memoranda, and submissions in Arabic.
  • Appear before courts and judicial committees, delivering oral arguments and managing proceedings.
  • Evaluate legal risks and develop litigation strategies aligned with clients commercial objectives.
  • Supervise the preparation of submissions, including ensuring attachments are correctly aligned, expert reports, and evidence submissions.
  • Monitor legal developments and court decisions relevant to ongoing and potential disputes.
  • Advise clients, both local and international, on litigation exposure, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution strategies, including arbitration and ADR.
  • Conduct thorough legal analysis of complex commercial, contractual, and regulatory disputes.
  • Provide legal opinions and litigation risk assessments for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Guide clients through litigation, settlement negotiations, and enforcement processes.

Business Development & Client Relationship Management

  • Contribute to the growth of the dispute resolution practice by identifying new opportunities and engaging with potential clients.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients through proactive legal support and responsive service.
  • Collaborate with Partners on developing targeted litigation services for strategic sectors and government entities.
  • Represent the firm in conferences, legal forums, and thought leadership initiatives in dispute resolution.

Knowledge Sharing & Team Development

  • Mentor and train junior associates on litigation tactics, legal drafting, and court procedures.
  • Support firm-wide knowledge sharing on litigation trends, judicial reforms, and procedural developments in Saudi Arabia.
  • Participate in the development of practice resources, templates, and litigation tools.
  • Contribute to internal and external training programmes, workshops, and seminars on dispute resolution.

Performance Metrics & Case Management

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality legal services across all assigned matters.
  • Track billable hours and case budgets, supporting profitability and resource allocation.
  • Monitor litigation pipelines, timelines, and KPIs in collaboration with the firm's operations and finance teams.

Key Qualifications & Skills

  • Law degree from a Saudi university and admitted to practice in Saudi Arabia.
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an internationally recognized institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in litigation, with a strong track record of advocacy across a range of courts (Commercial Courts, Administrative Courts and General Courts) and committees in Saudi Arabia.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, particularly in handling complex commercial disputes.
  • Excellent Arabic legal writing skills, including experience preparing court submissions and pleadings.
  • Experience managing client relationships and contributing to business development.
  • Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution mechanisms is a plus.

Reporting Structure

The Senior Disputes Lawyer will report directly to the Head of the Dispute Resolution Department, and work closely with other partners, associates, and clients to deliver excellence in litigation and advocacy.
