Job Description
- Contract Preparation and Management: Lead the drafting, negotiation, and administration of contracts, including construction, supplier, and subcontractor agreements. Ensure all contracts align with project objectives, legal requirements, and company policies. Manage contract amendments and variations, ensuring accurate documentation throughout.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor adherence to contract terms, legal obligations, and industry standards. Identify potential risks and work closely with the project team to develop effective risk mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Cost Control and Budget Oversight: Oversee contract cost management, ensuring the project stays within budgetary constraints. Approve and track payments, variations, and claims in line with contractual terms. Provide regular cost reports and forecasts to senior management, ensuring financial transparency.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve contract-related disputes and claims between contractors, clients, and suppliers. Collaborate with legal teams to address and resolve issues, ensuring amicable resolutions while safeguarding the organization’s interests.
- Project Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of contracts, variations, approvals, and all project correspondence. Prepare and submit regular reports on contract performance, issues, and compliance. Ensure all contract documentation is organized and accessible for audits.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with project managers, legal teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure contract terms are met and project goals are achieved. Act as the primary point of contact for both internal teams and external parties regarding contract matters. Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
- Contract Close-Out: Oversee the contract close-out process, ensuring that all deliverables are met and final payments are processed in a timely manner. Conduct post-project contract reviews to evaluate performance, gather lessons learned, and identify opportunities for process improvement in future projects.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior contract administrators and support staff, providing guidance on complex contract issues, legal implications, and best practices. Foster a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Stay informed about changes in construction law, industry standards, and relevant regulations. Ensure all contracts comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, proactively addressing any potential issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in contract administration or a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of contract law, commercial terms, and procurement processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and contract management software
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working in a multinational environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
