Job description

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Construction Engineer (Civil) to join our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team based in Riyadh. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing civil and infrastructure works on large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with design intent, quality standards, and project specifications. This role requires a professional with strong construction management expertise coupled with a solid understanding of civil and infrastructure design principles.

  • Lead and manage the PMS scope in relation to high-level supervision and monitoring of civil and infrastructure works to ensure they are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

  • Lead and manage the PMS scope in relation to high-level oversight of the activities of contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to schedule, quality, and safety standards.

  • Lead and manage the PMS scope in relation to preparation of Pre-construction Constructability Plan and evaluation for Contractors submitted plans for executing construction activities.

  • Provide technical input and guidance on civil engineering aspects, ensuring constructability and compliance with design intent.

  • Support the PMS Project Management team in reviewing 3rd party consultant/s Civils and Infra design designs outputs to meet the design intent, program design objectives and key deliverables.

  • Support the PMS Project Management team in reviewing key Civils and Infra design outputs & submissions in line with the Program requirements.

  • Lead reports on the progress of the Civils and Infra implementation phases and advising on corrective actions required to support the Program delivery.

  • Support the PMS Project Management team in reviewing & providing feedback on municipality and community Civils and Infra facilities.

  • Support value Engineering (VE) workshops with respect to design & implementation.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper execution and adherence to project requirements and best practices and assist in monitoring progress and preparing weekly and monthly reports.

  • Support the PMS Project Management team in resolve technical issues during construction.

  • Support the PMS Project Management team in reviewing method statements, ITPs, material submittals, and shop drawings for civil and infrastructure works.

  • Participate in site progress meetings, provide inputs on construction challenges, and support the resolution of technical queries (RFIs).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil and infrastructure construction, preferably within large-scale projects (roads, utilities, bridges, tunnels, or related works).

  • Previous experience working in a PMC or consultancy environment is essential.

  • Strong understanding of design principles and ability to interpret and review design drawings.

  • Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, standards, and specifications (Saudi and international).

  • Demonstrated experience in managing contractors and coordinating with design and technical teams.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering/construction software.

  • Experience in the Middle East, preferably in Saudi Arabia, is required.

  • Membership in a recognized engineering society and/or PMP certification would be an advantage.
