Job Role: Senior Chief Engg. Manager Substation Special Projects (Civil & Structural), PTD
Reports to (Job Role): Head of Engineering
Reportee (Job Role): Team of Lead Engineers, Design Engineers, and Drafting Team
Interfaces: Project Management, Procurement, Construction, Quality, Safety, Clients, Consultants, Statutory Authorities
Geographical Scope: Projects at Multiple International locations / projects as assigned
Minimum Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil & Structural Engineering (It is preferable to have Post‑graduation in Structural/Geo‑technological Engineering.)
Experience: 20-25 years in Civil & Structural design and engineering in the T&D sector, with at least 8–10 years in a senior leadership role.
Objective: To lead and manage the Civil & Structural engineering function for Substation projects and special projects within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector, ensuring delivery of safe, cost‑effective, and technically sound engineering solutions that meet client requirements, project timelines, and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
- Lead the Civil & Structural engineering team for substation and special projects in the T&D sector.
- Define engineering strategy, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of all engineering outputs.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
2. Engineering Design & Review
- Oversee preparation and validation of civil & structural designs, drawings, and BOQs for substations, foundations, buildings, and associated structures.
- Ensure compliance with international codes (IEC, ACI, ASTM) and local regulatory standards.
- Drive value engineering and cost optimization in design without compromising safety or reliability.
3. Project Execution Support
- Ensure timely issuance of IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings and address technical queries from project sites.
- Provide expert technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
4. Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Establish robust engineering quality processes and review mechanisms.
- Identify potential technical risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and authorities to secure approvals and resolve design‑related concerns.
- Represent the engineering team in internal and external project review meetings.
6. Innovation & Technology Adoption
- Promote digital engineering practices, including BIM, 3D modeling, and advanced design software (STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD).
- Encourage adoption of sustainable and future‑ready design solutions.
Key Challenges

Technical Expertise
- Substation foundations, equipment support structures, control buildings, and GIS/AIS substation layouts.
- Structural design software proficiency: STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
