As a Business Development Manager, you will focus on expanding our agent network and strengthening existing relationships in the Saudi market. Your role will be pivotal in identifying growth opportunities, acquiring new agents, and increasing in-store performance. From acquisition through to end‑to‑end sales, you’ll work collaboratively with internal stakeholders in marketing, operations, compliance, and finance to ensure agents meet strategic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and expand strong relationships with existing and new remittance agents across Saudi Arabia, ensuring sustained growth and market penetration.
- Lead agent acquisition initiatives within the Saudi market, focusing on high‑potential partners aligned with Western Union’s strategic priorities.
- Drive agent performance through effective sales strategies, in‑store optimization, pricing initiatives, promotions, and product adoption across digital and physical channels.
- Identify, evaluate, and execute growth opportunities within the remittance and payments ecosystem, including collaborations with banks, exchange houses, retail chains, and FinTech partners.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across marketing, operations, compliance, product, and finance to ensure agents meet regulatory, operational, and performance standards.
- Monitor Saudi, regional, and global remittance market trends, including competitor movements, regulatory changes, and emerging FinTech solutions, to inform strategic decision‑making.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert on the Saudi remittance landscape, including customer behaviour, corridor dynamics, and competitive positioning.
- Ensure strict adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies, working proactively with agents to mitigate risks.
- Represent the company in industry forums, partner discussions, and key negotiations within the Kingdom.
- Travel regularly within Saudi Arabia to manage relationships, support agent performance, and ensure successful execution of business initiatives.
Role Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Business Development, with demonstrated remittance and money transfer experience within Saudi Arabia.
- Proven experience in the remittances, payments, FinTech, or financial services sector, preferably with exposure to digital wallets, cross‑border payments, or alternative payment solutions.
- Strong understanding of the Saudi remittance ecosystem, including exchange houses, banks, FinTech players, regulators, and key customer corridors.
- In‑depth knowledge of global and regional Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), their operating models, products, pricing strategies, and competitive dynamics.
- Proven success in client‑facing roles such as account management, partnership development, or merchant / agent acquisition within financial services.
- Solid understanding of SAMA regulations, AML / KYC requirements, and compliance standards applicable to remittances and payments in Saudi Arabia.
- Currently based in Saudi Arabia with the ability to travel extensively within the Kingdom as required.
- Strong solution‑based selling skills with a track record of driving revenue growth, market share expansion, and partner performance improvement.
- Self‑starter with a proactive, results‑driven mindset, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional and multicultural teams in a fast‑paced, matrix organisation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills; Arabic language skills are a strong advantage.
