Role Summary

The Business Architect will define, enhance, and govern the bank’s business capabilities, processes, and models to ensure alignment with strategic goals. The role acts as the bridge between Business and IT, ensuring requirements, initiatives, and projects are architecturally aligned, well‑documented, and support the bank’s transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy & Governance
    • Contribute to the development of departmental strategy and ensure alignment during the formulation of objectives, targets, and initiatives.
    • Participate in departmental budgeting and monitor performance against approved levels.
    • Implement approved policies, processes, and procedures, ensuring controlled and consistent operations.
  2. Business Architecture Development
    • Develop business architecture artifacts, including capabilities, products, services, value streams, and processes, and map them to the IT landscape.
    • Create high‑level business architecture models that illustrate how workflows, systems, and processes interact.
    • Evaluate BRDs, use cases, and process workflows to assess architectural impact and alignment.
    • Engage stakeholders to define the target state, identify gaps, and validate architecture recommendations.
    • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable architectural specifications.
    • Maintain accuracy of all Business Architecture artifacts within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) tool repository.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment
    • Work across Business Units, Enterprise Architecture, Data, Cybersecurity, and Risk to ensure alignment with the business architecture.
    • Support domain architects by helping translate business requirements into high‑level architectural design.
    • Participate in architecture committees, contributing to approvals, impact assessments, and decisions.
    • Collaborate throughout the project lifecycle, including RFP/RFI reviews, to ensure alignment with the business architecture.
  4. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in business processes, systems, and architecture practices.
    • Support process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
    • Ensure day‑to‑day Business Architecture activities are executed in line with established policies and frameworks.
  5. Reporting, Committees & Governance
    • Prepare accurate and timely reports related to Business Architecture.
    • Represent the Business Architecture function in internal and external committees, ensuring core topics are addressed effectively.
  6. Knowledge & Expertise
    • Deep understanding of banking operations and products across Accounts & Deposits, Lending, Cards, Payments, Operations, Treasury, Finance, Risk.
    • Ability to prepare and map AS‑IS product/service models to TO‑BE target systems.
    • Maintain Business Architecture principles, standards, and guidelines specific to the banking domain.
  7. Compliance & Safety
    • Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental policies.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Finance, or related discipline.
    • Preferred certifications: TOGAF, BIAN.
    • Additional certifications such as CBAP or PMI‑PBA are an advantage.
  • Minimum Experience
    • 10–15 years of experience in the banking domain, with at least 5 years as a Business Architect or Business Analyst in relevant domains.
    • Strong proficiency in English; working knowledge of Arabic preferred.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong command of Business Architecture concepts, methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Strategic planning capability with a consulting‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong architecture modelling skills and understanding of emerging banking technologies.
  • Competency in design thinking, systems thinking, and change management techniques.
  • Proven experience mapping business needs to technical architecture.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking technology systems and business processes.
