We are seeking an experienced Scaffolding & Temporary Works Design Engineer to support Oil & Gas and Industrial Construction Projects by delivering compliant scaffolding and temporary works design solutions. The role includes producing engineering drawings, calculations, and design schemes in accordance with UK NASC guidance (TG20-21 / TG), KSA & Qatar Oil & Gas regulations, and internal company policies. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a practical understanding of scaffolding operations in live industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scaffolding and temporary works design schemes for construction, industrial, and Oil & Gas projects.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and design calculations for scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Ensure all designs comply with:
- UK NASC guidance (including TG standards)
- KSA and GCC standards
- Qatar Oil & Gas regulations
- Company procedures, safety rules, and quality standards
- Analyse the structural integrity and stability of scaffolding and temporary works structures.
- Produce engineering calculations to demonstrate design adequacy and strength under applicable loads.
- Conduct site surveys, gather and assess site information, and liaise with clients, project teams, and site operations.
- Work closely with project managers and construction teams to ensure design requirements match site conditions and project constraints.
- Apply working knowledge of scaffolding erection, use, and dismantling methods to improve design practicality and service quality.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of scaffold design outputs in line with project schedules.
- Maintain proper documentation, drawing registers, calculation packs, and design records for traceability and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- 3–5 years minimum experience in industrial scaffolding design / temporary works engineering
- Strong understanding of AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
- Experience using structural design tools such as REVIT, STAAD Pro, ROBOT, or similar analysis software
- Knowledge of key regulatory frameworks and design guidance including:
- Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations
- TG20-21 Design & Operation
- Work at Height Regulations (WAHR)
- Strong knowledge of KSA and GCC Standards for industrial and construction environments
- Proficiency in G-Suite and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Preferred / Advantage
- Proven track record delivering scaffold / temporary works design in Oil & Gas and heavy industrial environments
- Experience working with clients, site teams, and multi-discipline stakeholders in fast-paced project environments
- Strong engineering judgement and ability to interpret loads, structural behaviour, and stability requirements
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- High level of accuracy, documentation discipline, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required
Candidate Profile (Who We Will Consider)
We welcome applicants with experience in design, scaffolding, and engineering within the industrial and construction sectors, including those who have recently obtained a relevant qualification.
We will also consider candidates who:
- Have recently graduated from a full-time engineering course and have at least 3 years of industry experience within design/engineering roles in industrial, Oil & Gas, or construction environments.
- May not have direct scaffold design experience but have strong exposure to civil/structural permanent works design in industrial or construction settings.
Applicants with proven scaffolding or temporary works design delivery experience will have a strong advantage.
