Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Director. The primary function of this role is to lead and coach the assigned commercial team to drive profitable growth both within the existing customer base and by acquiring new prospects. The role is key to increasing customer satisfaction, improving productivity, and achieving (or exceeding) overall booking objectives.

The successful candidate will lead a commercial team that may include Business Development Managers, Associates and members of the Quotation Management Team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coaching of the sales and quotation management teams to maximize bookings across all customer segments. You will be expected to demonstrate and promote an enterprise-focused mindset while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for prioritizing and allocating team resources to the most promising opportunities and high-potential customers, while setting clear goals and performance expectations for your direct reports.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure sales resources are aligned with the company’s overall go-to-market strategy
  • Create and review the strategic and annual business plans to ensure alignment with key initiatives and objectives
  • Ensure the sales team applies the desired behaviours and actions needed to effectively execute the sales strategy
  • Promote a proactive, enterprise-focused sales approach throughout the commercial organization
  • Achieve team sales targets through effective coaching and performance management
  • Coach sales staff on the best approaches to advance sales opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments to help team members progress opportunities
  • Partner with Operations to ensure seamless execution and delivery of services
  • Assess team capabilities and provide tools and development plans to improve required skills and competencies
  • Ensure the team is prioritizing high-potential opportunities and accounts
  • Lead the quotation management team to meet customer requirements and service levels
  • Drive new customer acquisition and deeper market penetration
  • Represent the regional sales function in business reviews, reporting, and leadership forums
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, including terms and conditions, trade compliance, ethical conduct, and HR policies
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable safety, environmental, and corporate governance laws and standards
Skills / Qualifications
  • A significant sales career, with 5–10 years in a sales management role
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to support business needs
  • Strong background in Environmental Business Services
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental lab testing procedures
  • Proven responsibility for managing a minimum 8-digit order intake budget
  • Experience remotely managing a national or large multi-region sales team
  • Ability to read and interpret customer quotes, contracts, marketing materials, and technical specifications
  • Strong business writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, teams, and leadership
  • Proficient in calculating and understanding discounts, interest, commissions, and pricing models, with working knowledge of basic algebra and geometry
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex instructions and customer requirements from various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Flexible and mature professional presence, with the ability to represent the company at external and internal events
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with strong multi-tasking and time management capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across a range of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support open, respectful communication and collaboration
  • Ability to engage with clients, understand requirements, and support proposal development, including cost estimation and commercial terms
