Job summary

MALAMA is seeking a Senior Head of Accounting to oversee the accounting function across all brands and branches in Saudi Arabia. You will supervise daily operations, review journal entries, manage VAT and ZATCA compliance, and lead month-end closing and financial reporting.

You will build and develop the accounting team, ensure accurate records, and coordinate with Finance, Operations, and external audits to ensure timely closes and reliable management reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Restaurant and café sector experience (mandatory).
• Hands-on experience with Foodics.
• Hands-on experience reconciling POS and delivery platform sales.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and ZATCA requirements.
• Hands-on experience with an accounting ERP system.
• Knowledge of Xero, and advanced Excel skills.
• Fluent Arabic and good English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all daily accounting operations, and review journal entries and supporting documents for accuracy.
• Ensure expenses are charged to the correct account, branch, and brand, and follow up on accounting errors until corrected.
• Review sales coming from POS systems (Foodics), apps, and delivery platforms.
• Review delivery platform commissions, discounts, and promotions.
• Oversee customer and supplier accounts, review supplier balances, and reconcile statements and invoices.
• Oversee cash and bank accounts, and review and approve monthly bank, cash, and POS reconciliations.
• Lead month-end closing and the preparation of final accounts.
• Review fixed assets, depreciation, and accounting adjustments.
• Review VAT data for accuracy before the return is filed.
• Prepare and review actual P&L and periodic financial reports, and explain accounting variances between periods.
• Coordinate with Finance, Operations, and Financial Analysis on financial data, and support external and internal audits.
• Ensure compliance with approved financial and accounting policies, develop procedures and internal controls, and manage system access to maintain segregation of duties.
• Directly supervise the accountants: assign tasks, follow up on progress, review and approve their work before closing, and train and develop the team.
• Ensure closing and reporting deadlines are met, and assign a backup for every role during leave.
