Telemedicine OB/GYN Registrar is a physician in advanced training who provides specialized care for women’s health, pregnancy, and reproductive health through virtual platforms. The role integrates clinical expertise in obstetrics and gynecology with digital health technologies to deliver accessible, efficient, and patient-centered care, while continuing professional development under consultant supervision.
Patient Consultations and Management
- Conduct teleconsultations for antenatal, postnatal, gynaecological, and reproductive health concerns.
- Manage common conditions such as menstrual disorders, menopause, and early pregnancy complications.
- Provide remote triage and guidance for urgent obstetric or gynaecological issues, ensuring safe escalation to in‑person care when needed.
- Deliver continuity of care for pregnant patients through structured telemedicine pathways (e.g., virtual antenatal clinics, postnatal follow‑ups).
- Support chronic gynaecological conditions (e.g., endometriosis, PCOS) with ongoing monitoring and treatment adjustments.
- Utilize digital tools for vital monitoring, maternal health tracking, and patient‑reported outcomes.
- Collaborate with consultants, midwives, neonatologists, and allied health professionals via telehealth platforms.
- Facilitate referrals and multidisciplinary case discussions for complex obstetric or gynaecological cases.
- Provide virtual counselling on pregnancy care, contraception, fertility options, and menopause management.
- Promote preventive care through digital outreach (screenings for cervical cancer, breast health awareness, prenatal education).
- Empower patients with self‑management strategies and digital health resources.
- Participate in telemedicine‑driven women’s health programs (e.g., maternal health pathways, reproductive endocrinology clinics).
- Contribute to quality improvement projects aimed at improving maternal and gynecological outcomes.
- Apply value‑based care principles to optimize efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Use standardized clinical pathways for antenatal care, gynaecological conditions, contraception, and menopause management.
- Work under consultant oversight, with clear escalation protocols for emergencies (e.g., preeclampsia, postpartum haemorrhage).
- Track maternal and neonatal outcomes, complication rates, and patient satisfaction to ensure care quality.
- Conduct regular case audits, peer reviews, and morbidity/mortality meetings to evaluate telemedicine cases.
Professional Development
- Gain competencies in digital obstetrics and gynaecology, telemedicine ethics, and virtual communication skills.
- Supervise junior doctors and medical students in telehealth settings under consultant guidance.
- Engage in research and audits related to telemedicine effectiveness in women’s health.
Telehealth Platform Proficiency
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilise the designated telehealth platform, including video conferencing, secure messaging, and electronic health records (EHR) integration.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic medical records for all teleconsultations.
- Participate in training programs and stay updated on platform enhancements and best practices. Collaborate with IT support to troubleshoot technical issues.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
- Maintain compliance with all patient safety standards and ensure patient safety across all clinical interactions.
- Report any patient safety risks or issues to the appropriate staff in the quality department.
- Practice safe medicine to prevent patient harm.
- Explain medications, possible side effects, and proper use.
- Maintain satisfactory consultations through communication, thorough history taking, empathy, and understanding of patient conditions.
- Monitor patient feedback and address concerns promptly.
- Implement safety protocols to minimize risks during consultations.
- Conduct regular training sessions on patient safety for healthcare staff.
- Utilise patient satisfaction surveys to gather insights for continuous improvement.
Collaboration with Healthcare Teams
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care.
- Share insights and recommendations to support patient‑centered care approaches.
- Facilitate communication between team members regarding patient status and needs.
Skills
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training in OB/GYN from an accredited programme.
- Board certification in OB/GYN or equivalent.
- Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) classification and registration as an OB/GYN Registrar.
- Proven experience as OB/GYN Registrar.
- Experience in population health management and value‑based care approaches.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and telemedicine platforms.
- Strong clinical judgement and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
