Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Role Purpose:
The Quality Control Manager ensures that all products and manufactured equipment meet customer specifications, contractual requirements, and international standards to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction.
The role involves maintaining quality levels for incoming, in-process, and final inspections, driving a culture of “First Time Right,” and promoting optimal resource utilization across all quality functions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all incoming components and raw materials comply with the specifications and standards defined in purchase orders.
- Develop quality plans, inspection checklists, and testing procedures based on customer requirements and international standards (e.g., IEC).
- Monitor and control in-process inspections to achieve “First Time Right” production results.
- Ensure that final product inspections are conducted in compliance with approved drawings, standards, and documentation.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers and ensure full compliance with testing requirements and satisfaction with outcomes.
- Record, classify, and report all non-conformities detected during inspections or testing, and issue monthly Manufacturing Defect Rate (MDR) reports to management.
- Analyze recurring or critical non-conformities and propose improvement actions to eliminate root causes.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to implement corrective and preventive actions effectively.
- Lead and support the continuous improvement of quality processes through TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Supervise and develop the Quality Control team to ensure effective time management, technical accuracy, and adherence to company quality standards.
- Identify training needs for the department and ensure staff competency in quality and inspection techniques.
- Coach and mentor team members to maintain alignment with industry best practices and evolving quality standards.
- Ensure all QC resources are utilized efficiently and that man-hour targets are met or exceeded for each product type.
- Manage customer relations during FAT, ensuring clear communication and swift resolution of testing comments or non-conformities.
- Coordinate and lead weekly meetings with relevant departments to follow up on FAT comments and closure of quality issues.
- Support field service and commissioning teams, when required, to ensure product performance aligns with specifications during installation or startup.
- Promote and maintain compliance with ISO 9001, occupational safety standards (e.g., OSHAS), and company quality management systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in switchgear manufacturing, preferably within the Gulf region.
- Strong knowledge of IEC, ANSI, NEMA, UL, and other relevant international standards.
- Proven experience in managing FATs, inspection teams, and quality documentation systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, audit documentation, and quality reporting tools.
- Sound understanding of manufacturing practices, electrical protection systems, and switchgear applications.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001, continuous improvement tools, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
