This position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Team & Division

The Energy Industries Division serves a wide range of industrial sectors, including hydrocarbons, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation and water. With its integrated solutions that automate, digitalise and electrify operations, the Division supports traditional industries in their decarbonisation efforts and the development, integration and scaling of new renewable energy models. By harnessing data, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), the Division delivers solutions designed to improve energy, process and production efficiency, reduce risk, operational and capital costs, and minimise waste throughout the plant lifecycle.

Role Summary

In this role you will support engineering activities across a wide range of project sizes and complexities under the supervision of senior engineers. Your daily tasks include completing work cost‑effectively in line with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and cybersecurity policies, as well as collecting data and supporting the production of engineering design.

Engineering and Design Support
  • Perform basic survey work, standard automation engineering, analysis and basic design tasks.
  • Collect data and support engineering design production.
  • Exercise judgement on limited details of work and on the application of standard methods, preparing relevant documentation.
  • Assist in preparing proposals/presentations of engineering projects or programmes (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).
Process Control and Application Development
  • Work in graphic/application engineering development in DCS.
  • Program, implement, test and document process control applications.
  • Understand control narratives, P&ID's.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Support communication pertaining to specific assignments in meetings.
  • Participate in workshops related to engineering, design, tools and processes.
Documentation and Judgment
  • Exercise judgement on limited details of work and on the application of standard methods, preparing relevant documentation.
  • Assist in preparing proposals/presentations of engineering projects or programmes (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).

Qualifications for the Role
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Communications, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Experience: 3–5 years of control systems experience; ABB systems experience is an advantage.
  • Personal Attributes: Team player, self‑motivated, quick learner, adaptable and flexible.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel & work at sites as required, including domestic and overseas travel based on project need.
