Summary
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all daily manufacturing operations within the steel support structure (racking and mounting systems) fabrication area of the solar panel factory. This role ensures that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The supervisor is a key leader, managing production staff, optimizing workflows, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Management and Efficiency
- Supervise daily operations: Direct and coordinate all activities in the steel fabrication shop, including cutting, punching, drilling, welding, assembly, and finishing processes (e.g., galvanization preparation).
- Schedule and Workforce Planning: Develop daily/weekly production schedules based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and customer demand, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation.
- Target Achievement: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output rate, cycle time, scrap rate, and on-time delivery to consistently meet or exceed production goals.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and process variances promptly.
2. Quality Control and Compliance
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all fabricated steel components conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AISC).
- Inspection: Oversee in-process quality checks and final product inspections, coordinating with the Quality Control (QC) department.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, quality logs, and material traceability documentation.
3. Safety and Environment
- Safety Leadership: Enforce all company safety policies and procedures, particularly those related to heavy machinery, welding, material handling, and steel fabrication hazards.
- Training: Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for the production team.
- Incident Management: Investigate all safety incidents, near misses, and equipment damage, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
4. Team Leadership and Development
- Personnel Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production operators, fabricators, and assemblers.
- Performance: Conduct performance evaluations, manage disciplinary actions, and identify training needs for staff development.
- Communication: Serve as the primary communication link between management and the shop floor team.
5. Continuous Improvement (CI)
- Process Optimization: Champion Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste (Muda), and organize the work area.
- Suggestions: Encourage and implement team suggestions for process and safety improvements.
