Process Engineering Supervisor- Petrochemicals

Location: Saudi Arabia (Residential)

Work Schedule: 5 days per week

Contract Type: Long-term contract

About the Role

An experienced Senior Process Engineer is required to provide technical leadership, process optimisation, and operational support within a petrochemical environment. The role involves guiding area engineers, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring efficient and reliable plant performance across assigned units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical supervision and mentorship to Area Process Engineers, supporting them in daily operations and project-related tasks.
  • Collaborate with business and operations teams to deliver technical guidance on process issues.
  • Monitor budgets, yields, and throughputs, and prepare regular performance reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate test runs for new and existing installations, implementing corrective actions for any design-related issues.
  • Support the start-up, shutdown, and inspection of process units.
  • Provide technical input for HAZOPs, PFDs, P&IDs, safety assessments, and management of change processes.
  • Define and evaluate technical specifications for chemicals and catalysts in coordination with procurement and technical teams.
  • Work with technical and studies divisions to scope new projects, conduct feasibility studies, and prioritise improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in business team meetings to support and present process improvement opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with the latest process engineering technologies and participate in industry conferences and technical events.
  • Monitor production unit performance, focusing on capacity, yield, and efficiency improvements.
  • Support shutdown planning, testing, and inspection activities, ensuring timely resolution of process issues.
  • Review process design studies and modifications developed by external engineering companies, validating changes to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in troubleshooting activities and provide technical solutions for critical operational problems.
  • Collaborate with performance control teams to ensure accurate yield and utilities predictions.
  • Review progress on engineering service contracts, ensuring that all issues are properly addressed with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to catalyst and chemical management by monitoring usage cycles, inventories, and procurement requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Process Engineering Superintendent.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Significant experience in process engineering within petrochemical or refining operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and optimisation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical priorities and collaborate across departments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
