The Power BI Consultant plays a crucial role in transforming raw data into meaningful insights through the use of Microsoft Power BI. This position is ideal for individuals who possess a strong analytical mindset and a passion for data visualization. The consultant will work closely with clients to understand their business needs and deliver tailored BI solutions that enhance decision-making processes. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, ensuring that data-driven strategies are effectively communicated and implemented.

Responsibilities:

Dashboard & Reports Development

• Design, develop, and publish interactive dashboards and paginated reports in Power BI.
• Build visualizations that provide actionable insights aligned with business KPIs.
• Create drill-down and self-service analytics capabilities for business users.

Data Modeling & Integration

• Develop robust data models (Star/Snowflake schema) for analytics.
• Integrate multiple data sources.
• Optimize Power Query (M) and DAX calculations for performance and accuracy.
• Ensure governance and consistency in KPIs, measures, and business logic.

Performance & Optimization

• Monitor and tune dataset refresh performance and gateway configurations.
• Optimize data pipelines to handle large datasets with minimal latency.
• Establish best practices for model size reduction, incremental refresh, and composite models.

Collaboration & Business Alignment

• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, HR, and leadership teams to align reporting with strategic goals.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for business users on Power BI self-service.

Governance & Security

• Define and implement row-level security (RLS) and user access management.
• Apply data governance policies and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
• Establish documentation standards for datasets, reports, and dashboards.

Skills

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence with a strong focus on Power BI.
• Proven track record of developing enterprise-level dashboards and data models.
• Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), SQL, and data modeling.
• Experience integrating Power BI with ERP, CRM, and cloud systems.
• Strong knowledge of data visualization best practices and UX design for reports.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI Gateway, Power BI Service, and Workspace management.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, or similar cloud data platforms (preferred).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to translate technical results into business language.
