Summary

Responsible to provide diagnosis of illnesses, injuries, and diseases of infants, children, and adolescents, using imaging techniques and equipment.

Education/Qualifications Required:
  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post‑qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from:
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively participates in QI activities
  • Provides input to the Section head, department head and Chairman of Medical Imaging
  • Serves on Committees as appointed by the Chairman of Medical Imaging or the Hospital Director or Section Head
  • Reports any violations of the rules and regulations of the department to the Chairman or Section Head
  • Attain and maintain competency in the field of Pediatric Radiology including performance and interpretation of all modalities of Pediatric Radiology
  • Accountable to the Chairman of Medical Imaging and Section Head for fulfilling responsibilities
  • Ensures that he/she maintains high medical ethical standards in the practice
  • Performs administrative tasks set by the Chairman of Medical Imaging and the Section Head
  • Ensures that practices meet standards set by JCIA
  • Participates in education and in formal education programmes of the Hospital
  • Engages in clinical reviews, clinical research and other scholarly pursuits
  • Reports imaging for inclusion in patient records
  • Confers with other departments on the interpretation of all modalities of Pediatric Radiology findings and assists in determining the nature and extent of necessary treatment
  • Shares emergency calls with other radiologists
  • Carrying out on call as required by the department
  • Advances knowledge and practice of radiological imaging by facilitating research and development, planning research projects, securing funding, utilizing available infrastructure, and publishing research
  • Seeks partners for research funding, audits own work and departmental work, and introduces evidence‑based practice
  • Invests in training residents and fellows, audits their work, encourages research and publication, and educates the public through explanatory leaflets on the importance of imaging
  • Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for which specific privileges have been granted based on experience and skills
