Job Description - Operations Accountant (00133170)
  • Undertaking the financial accounting transactions in accordance with the finance policies, processes and procedures as well as the commercial and statutory requirements of the business e.g. the timely payment of employees, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Provision of a financial transaction processing that is accurate, efficient and in accordance with the financial control requirements
  • Maintaining the financial ledgers in accordance with the business policies, processes and procedures.
  • Reconciliation of the general ledger accounts on a monthly basis as required
Responsibilities
  • Maintaining financial controls which are applicable to the processes being transacted e.g. creditor statement reconciliations
  • Providing support to internal customers in the application of the established policies, processes and procedures.
  • Provision of data integrity and liaise with other functions and BAE Systems businesses to achieve streamlined integrated processes which meet overall business objectives.
  • Supporting the reconciliation of business balances with relevant external parties such as banks, BAE Systems businesses and government/taxation authorities
  • Supporting the provision of financial analysis as requiredAnalysis of tax information as required
  • Resolving issues on a timely basis
  • Undertaking additional activities as necessary to support internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Supporting own team as required
  • Working in a professional manner
Job Requirements:
  • The role would typically require a degree in Accounting or SOCPA membership, with Minimum of 1 years of Accounting experience
  • Working toward a professional accounting qualification e.g. SOCPA, CMA, AAT, CIMA.
  • Has an understanding of Accounting concepts and procedures
  • Their level of proficiency enables them to apply their skills and knowledge and ensure essential procedures and controls are followed
  • Role typically requires a relevant university degree, or an extensive amount of practical Accounting knowledge gained through experience.
  • The role requires attention to detail in making evaluative judgements based on analysis of factual information
  • The role has an impact on the business through providing value added services that are important to thje financial integrity of the business
  • The role requires strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence and convince others.
