Job description

To lead the nursing team during any allotted span of duty, ensuring that the nursing and personal care of the clinic patients is maintained daily according to individual needs and capabilities. Responsible for providing medical and nursing care to patients as well as offering advice and emotional support to patients and their families, taking care of paperwork, helping doctors diagnose patients and providing advice and follow‑up care. Ensuring infection control and hygiene guidelines and codes are adhered with and applied. Managing stock levels and readiness of all the medical equipment and consumable materials needed in the clinics.

Accountabilities
  • Disinfects clinical surfaces and equipment at the beginning of the day and after each patient.
  • Greets patient to the examination room.
  • Takes and documents medical history from patient.
  • Screens patients for the risk of fall, nutritional deficiency, functional risk.
  • Triage patients at the emergency room to categorize their emergency status.
  • Performs minor wound dressings.
  • Monitors patients under observation.
  • Prepares and administers intramuscular and intravenous medications under aseptic conditions.
  • Escorts patients in ambulance.
  • Assists physicians in performing patients’ examinations and procedures.
  • Closely follows infection control guidelines for managing patients and their body fluids.
  • withdraws blood from patients for laboratory investigations in the emergency room.
  • Monitors stocks of consumable material to ensure an uninterrupted supply.
  • Keeps an inventory of medical equipment.
Supervisory Tasks
  • Orients newly recruited nurses to the organization.
  • Ensures the availability of the required nursing work force on daily basis.
  • Works together with the medical director to ensure quality patients’ care.
  • Supervises the work of the registered nurses.
  • Performs the annual appraisal for nurses
  • Member of the community advisory committee.

Job Requirements
Education
  • BSc. In nursing from a recognized nursing college.
